Kizilelma UCAV Drops Munitions from Internal Bays for the First Time
After initially testing weapon release from underwing pylons, the Kizilelma UCAV now progressed to the employment of munitions from the internal weapon bays.
Turkey’s Baykar Kizilelma fighter-drone used its internal weapons bays to release air-to-ground munitions for the first time, the company reported on Jul. 30, 2026. The rapidly advancing Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), that has previously displayed a significant surface-strike and anti-air capability with conventional underwing weapons stations, dropped a Teber-82 guided bomb and a Tolun-P glide bomb from its weapon bays and struck marked targets on the ground.
The test drops also make the Kizilelma the first air-to-air combat-oriented UCAV to release ordnance from its internal weapons bays, after previously becoming the first fighter-class drone to engage and destroy an aerial target with an air-to-air missile. Another Turkish UCAV, the ANKA-III, too has released the TOLUN from its weapon bays back in January 2025.

The Kizilelma, particularly its newer third prototype, had conducted captive carry and live-fire trials with the Tolun and Teber-82, carried under the wings, in October 2025. According to Yeni Safak, the S2 prototype was used in the latest firing trials.
The Kizilelma has also reached other milestones, including being integrated with a Murad-100A Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, Toygun Electro-Optical Tracking System (EOTS) and being controlled by Italian M-346As in Manned Unmanned-Teaming (MUM-T) trials.
The test
The video released by the company shows the Kizilelma at the Corlu Flight Training and Test Center closing the weapon bay’s doors before taxiing to the runway. After taking off and proceeding to the designated test range while being ‘chased’ by a Akinci drone, which usually accompanies the Kizilelma, the aircraft proceeded to release both munitions.

The Teber-82 guided bomb, which has a Semi-Active Laser (SAL) seeker, is released first and hits a marked ground target. We can see the ground target being laser illuminated.
It is unclear which platform designated the target during the test. This may have been done from the Akinci, as the Kizilelma seen in the video of the test is not carrying the chin-mounted Toygun EOTS.
This is followed by the release of the Tolun-P, which lands significantly away from the bullseye. On both occasions, footage from inside the ground control center showed the crew commanding the munitions’ release.
Aselsan has further mentioned the use of its Sadak-4T quad-rack, or the Smart Multiple Carriage Rack, as the company calls it, in the tests. “With this integration, Bayraktar KIZILELMA will gain the capability to carry up to eight TOLUN-P precision-guided munitions in its internal station,” Aselsan said.

This suggests Kizilelma’s internal weapon bays, the insides of which we cannot clearly see in the video, can carry two Sadak-4T quad-racks. The Sadak-4Ts are also commonly seen on Turkish Akinci UCAVs and the Turkish Air Force’s F-16s, both of which have also been integrated with the Tolun and Teber munitions.
Tolun and Teber munitions
The Tolun glide bomb, roughly in the same class as the U.S.-made GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) and the Russian D-30SN. The system is developed by Aselsan, while the warhead is a product of Tübitak SAGE.
It is not clear whether the Tolun-P is a new variant, different from the Tolun glide bombs tested from the Kizilelma, Turkish Air Force F-16 fighters and Akinci UCAVs. Aselsan says it is a 250 pound-class weapon that uses an Inertial Navigation System (INS) and Satellite Navigation (SATNAV) guidance and is carried on the Sadak-4T.

An advanced penetration warhead can defeat armored and non-armored warheads, and can penetrate through one meter of reinforced concrete. Aselsan has also developed an IIR (Imaging Infrared) seeker variant of the Tolun to hit moving targets, with a pod to keep the pilot in the loop, and an unnamed “ground-launched version with Delta-V’s hybrid fuel rocket motor.”

The ground launched variant suggests launch by an MLRS (Multiple Rocket Launch System) like the TRG-230. This is similar to the U.S.-made GLSDB (Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb), that fires the modified GBU-39 SDB from the HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System).
According to TurDef, TOLUN “achieved important milestones such as four simultaneous hits and hitting its target under intense GPS jamming” after being dropped by an F-16 in early 2024. An air-dropped TOLUN guided by GNSS and INS has a range of more than 110 km.

The JDAM-equivalent Teber kit converts Mk-81 and Mk-82 bombs into guided munitions with a Semi-Active Laser (SAL) seeker and SATNAV-guidance. Roketsan, the Teber-82’s developer, said that “TEBER increases the ability of the bomb to strike both static and mobile targets with high precision. TEBER can also be detonated by its proximity sensor.”
